Manage KOT Template Editor

Overview
This article explains how to add, edit, delete, clone, and manage KOT (Kitchen Order Ticket) templates in the Unidiner back office.
KOT templates help businesses customize kitchen ticket layouts for order preparation and kitchen operations. Users can create KOT templates using quick-generated default fields or manually configure custom fields with styling options.
Add a KOT Template
Use this option to create a new KOT template.
Steps to Add a KOT Template
- Go to the KOT Template Editor page.
- Click Add New Template.
- Enter the required template details.
Template Information
Template Name
Enter the KOT template name.
Examples:
- Standard Kitchen KOT
- Takeaway KOT
- Delivery KOT
The template name helps identify the KOT layout within the system.
Description
Enter a short description for the template.
Examples:
- Default kitchen ticket layout
- Compact KOT for takeaway orders
Descriptions help users understand the purpose of the template.
Generate Template Layout
Users can create KOT templates in two ways.
Quick Generate Template
Click Quick Generate to automatically create a default KOT template with commonly required kitchen order fields.
Common generated fields include:
- Restaurant Name
- KOT Number
- Order Number
- Table Number
- Order Type
- Item List
- Quantity
- Notes
- Order Time
Quick Generate helps users create a ready-to-use kitchen ticket layout quickly.
Add Individual Fields Manually
Users can manually create custom KOT fields.
Steps to Add Individual Fields
- Enter the Field Name.
- Select the Field Type.
- Select the Field Value Type.
Field Value Types
Static Value
Displays fixed text on the KOT.
Examples:
- Urgent Order
- Kitchen Copy
Dynamic Value
Displays system-generated values during order processing.
Examples:
- Order Number
- Table Number
- Item Name
- Quantity
- Customer Notes
Dynamic fields automatically fetch live order information during KOT generation.
Configure Field Styling
Users can customize the appearance of each KOT field.

Display Settings

These styling options help create clear and readable kitchen tickets for operational efficiency.
Manage Added Fields
After configuring the field settings, click Add Field to add it to the template.
Users can manage added KOT fields using these actions:
- Edit - Modify field details or styling settings.
- Clone - Duplicate an existing field with the same configuration.
- Move Upward / Downward - Rearrange the field position within the KOT layout.
- Delete - Remove unwanted fields from the template.
These controls help users organize and customize kitchen ticket layouts efficiently.
Save the KOT Template
After completing the template configuration:
- Review all KOT fields and layout settings.
- Click Save KOT Template.
The KOT template will be saved successfully and displayed in the template list.
Edit a KOT Template
Use this option to modify an existing KOT template.
Steps to Edit a KOT Template

Open the KOT Template Editor page.

Locate the template you want to update.

Click Edit.

Make the required changes:
- Update template details
- Modify field values
- Change styling settings
- Rearrange KOT fields

Click Update.
The KOT template will be updated successfully.
Delete a KOT Template
Use this option to remove a template that is no longer required.
Steps to Delete a KOT Template
- Go to the KOT Template Editor page.
- Find the template you want to remove.
- Click Delete.
- A delete confirmation message will appear.
- Click Delete to confirm the action.
The selected KOT template will be permanently removed from the system.
Note: Deleted templates cannot be recovered.
Clone a KOT Template
Users can quickly duplicate an existing KOT template.
Steps to Clone a Template
- Open the KOT Template Editor page.
- Locate the template you want to duplicate.
- Click Clone.
A duplicate copy of the template will be created with the same fields and styling configuration.
Cloning helps users create multiple KOT variations without rebuilding the layout from scratch.
Set a Template as Default
Users can define a template as the default KOT format.
Steps to Set Default Template
- Go to the KOT Template Editor page.
- Locate the required template.
- Click Set as Default.
The selected template will become the default KOT template used during kitchen order processing.
Only one KOT template can be set as the default template at a time.
